Phil Roberts is often referred to by his peers as a “Modern day Da Vinci”, as he is best known as a master painter, but his strongest talents lie in his inventions, figure drawing and sculpting. For over two decades, Phil has become one of the top illustrators of movie posters in Hollywood. Phil has also become well known in the Surf industry as creator of some of the most memorable paintings and illustrations of surf spots and surf personalities.
Phil’s scientific illustrations of wave schematics have been printed in the “Book of Waves” as well as Grolliers’ Encyclopedia of New Sciences, National Geographic’s Explorer Series, and have been reprinted in 7 different languages in magazines and museum shows worldwide. Phil also sculpted the perpetual trophy for the Pipeline Masters, a portrait of Gerry Lopez at Pipeline in bronze, as well as a number of unique waves and bronze figures that have become popular trophies around the world.
Phil lives to explore the boundless limits of how to apply his talents and to inspire other artists in the surfing community of what is possible. His current focus is to capture the legends of surfing and documenting in art the historical moments in surfing. The best of what Phil Roberts has to offer is yet to come!
